Eighteen holes redesigned in 2015, with baskets left up year-round — rolling grass on one half, wooded finesse on the other.

Twelve holes in eighty-five wooded acres on Alimagnet Lake. Restrooms, water and a canoe launch on site, which is more than most courses offer.

Nine free holes at Bandimere Heights Park in Chanhassen — a good mix of open and wooded, with dual tees and some elevation.

A free, well-liked 18 at Oakwood Park in Cottage Grove — a solid all-skill course you can just walk on.

One of Plymouth's two free municipal courses, wooded with concrete tees. The city closes it for mowing on some weekday mornings — check the parks page before driving out.

Burnsville's scenic wooded course at Red Oak Park, with multiple tees and pins set up to play 20 holes. Free, during regular park hours.

A free nine-hole course at Silver View Park in Mounds View — an easy, walkable neighborhood layout.

A free nine-hole course at Staring Lake Park in Eden Prairie — park in the east lot and follow the trail to the first tee. Open year-round, 6am to 10pm.

An 18-hole, par-59 course winding through oak, pine, and grassland at Bunker Hills Regional Park — open and narrow fairways with gentle elevation. A county vehicle permit is required ($7 daily / $30 annual).

The Park Board's 18-hole par-3 course alongside the Wirth par-3 golf — 46 to 156 yards, beginner and intermediate tees, sunrise to sunset. A small fee to play.
