Beaches

45 across the Twin Cities metro

Minneapolis alone keeps a dozen guarded lake beaches, and the water's swimmable from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Lifeguards work the afternoons in summer; the sand stays open dawn to dark either way. After a hard rain, check the park board's water-quality map before you load the car.
